Ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene sheet (UHMWPE) has the following performance characteristics:
Wear resistance: UHMWPE has excellent wear resistance, and its wear resistance ranks among the best among all plastics, even exceeding some metal materials. The higher the molecular weight, the better the wear resistance.
Impact resistance: UHMWPE also has excellent impact resistance, and its impact strength ranks among the best among all engineering plastics, and it can maintain excellent impact strength even in low temperature environments.
Self-lubrication: UHMWPE has an extremely low friction coefficient and good self-lubrication. It can work for a long time without lubrication, reducing energy consumption and mechanical wear.
Chemical stability: The material has good corrosion resistance to various chemicals (such as acids, alkalis, salts, etc.) and can be used for a long time in harsh chemical environments.
Low temperature resistance: UHMWPE is still ductile at extremely low temperatures and is suitable for low temperature environments, such as liquid nitrogen temperature (-269℃) in the nuclear industry.
Lightweight design: Compared with traditional materials such as metal or wood, UHMWPE is lighter, easier to operate and carry, and reduces labor costs.
Processing method: Due to its high molecular weight characteristics, UHMWPE does not melt and flow like ordinary plastics, so traditional plastic processing techniques such as injection molding are not applicable, and special processes such as extrusion molding are usually used for processing.
